'In you is the source of light and in your light we see light' Psalm 35 Eventide music pervades my body, underneath the stars*, as I climb spiral stairs to the tiny chapel; outside is late autumn afternoon. Away from distant chatter, here is comforting warmth, dimmed overhead lights, candles for private prayer. A few chairs, kneeling mats, smooth vaulted ceilings, rich blue-red carpets. I light my candle for Jean. I learn the Rule of St Benedict: hospitality, listening, respecting. I think more on my mother-in-law, on the Raising of Lazarus. And I am at peace, comforted, in this quiet place, in this quiet place, in this quiet place. Nikki Bennett, Chester Cathedral, 17th November 2018
