The Friends of Chester Cathedral

Enhancing the present, supporting the future

The Friends of Chester Cathedral are a Registered Charity led by a Council of Trustees and with HRH The Prince of Wales as Patron. Members come from all walks of life and are of varying faiths or none, brought together as a society founded nearly 100 years ago with the common aim of supporting the Dean and Chapter in their work to:

  • Support the life, worship and ministry of the Cathedral, especially its music
  • Enhance and assist in maintaining the fabric and furniture of the building

Recent grants made to the Cathedral include:

  • New chairs for the Nave which has allowed the space to be reconfigured easily for a variety of purposes
  • A set of specially commissioned Nativity figures by Tony Evans
  • Support for the Music Department during the pandemic restrictions

Invitation to join us
If you would like to get involved, we warmly invite applications from new members. During Covid-19 restrictions we have had to curtail our social events, but in a normal year we would arrange an overnight trip as well as other events, including a Friends AGM and lecture. Our informative newsletter is published twice a year and we are always on the lookout for new contributors! Membership Form

The Flower Guild of Chester Cathedral is funded entirely by the Friends. If you wish to make an additional contribution to the flowers or to order a memorial pedestal, please see further information and a Donation Form here.
