Worship in Advent and at Christmas
Worship continues online during this lockdown each weekday at 5.30pm and Sundays at 10am, and the Cathedral is open for individual prayer from 12 noon – 3pm daily.
Christ the King
This Sunday we look forward to welcoming Bishop Mark as our preacher for the feast of Christ the King.
On Advent Sunday there will be a special service of Light and Hope online at 3.30pm with singing by the Cathedral Lay Clerks and readings and reflections by the Clergy. Advent is a time to remember the people of Israel who looked forward with hope for the coming of a Saviour, and the preparation to receive Christ into the world. In these dark times, the message of waiting for liberation and light is more stronger than ever this year.
The Cathedral then waits for news as to what may be permitted. We hope that many of our regular services may return to the timetable that was in place before lockdown. The Cathedral is preparing for concerts and large services for Christmas; this means that the layout is changing for this season, and it will not be possible to have the Sunday Screen in the place where it was. As a result the Order of Service will need to be downloaded onto your device or printed at home. The link will be available in the receipt that is received on booking, as well as on the Cathedral website. Please bear with us as the Cathedral seeks to continually adapt in its presentation of worship for larger numbers.
Once the regulations are known, bookings for Christmas services will go online; this will likely to be at the end of the 1st week of December. Further details will be available in the next newsletter.
