Medieval Masonry guided tour

Celebrating Chester Heritage Festival

Join us for an exclusive 60-minute tour of Chester Cathedral – ‘Understanding the building from a Stonemason’s perspective’.

Following the Gothic rebuild of the Cathedral from 1240 onwards, you will find out how construction techniques advanced and the building became more complex.  Often unseen architectural details of the Cathedral, as well as features such as the Chester Imp and St Werburgh’s Shrine will be pointed out, finished off with a Questions and Answer session with the Cathedral Works Department staff on the craft and skills used to maintain the historic fabric.

Friday 18 and Saturday 19 June.
Tours at 11am and 2pm.
Pre-booking essential – click here to book.
Free entry.  Donations welcome
