The Tiger Who Came to Tea

May 17 @ 9:00 am - July 1 @ 5:00 pm

The Tiger Who Came to Tea – at Chester Cathedral

Celebrating Judith Kerr’s much-loved children’s book, this family-friendly exhibition features a life-size model tiger and facsimile artwork from the iconic picture book.

The tiger – and a re-creation of the kitchen from the book – makes the perfect photo opportunity for fans of the book of all ages.

The Tiger Who Came to Tea began life as a bedtime story for Judith Kerr’s own children, before being published in 1968. It quickly became a classic and by the time it celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018, it had been translated into eleven languages and sold over five million copies.

This delightful exhibition introduces Judith’s charming and enduring picture book to a new generation of readers and is a Christmas treat for families and art lovers of all ages.

The Tiger Who Came To Tea exhibition is created by Seven Stories, the National Centre for Children’s Books.  The exhibition is supported by Arts Council England and kindly sponsored by the Grosvenor Museum Society.  It has been generously loaned to the Cathedral by Seven Stories, the National Centre for Children’s Books.

Open normal Cathedral opening hours.
