Chester Cathedral Falconry – fantastic fun for all the family

This family friendly attraction gives you the chance to see some of the most spectacular birds of prey, right up close, in the heart of the city and learn all about birds, reptiles, bugs and more!

Owls, falcons, hawks and one incredibly mischievous vulture called Tinks, call our falconry home. Our expert falconers are always on hand to talk about any aspect of the birds and their habitats

From daily flying displays to children’s nature trails and a look at the other wildlife in the centre, there is plenty to keep all of the family entertained!


Opening Times:

Chester Cathedral Falconry and Nature Gardens are open daily (except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day) | 10am – 4pm

Please note: As a precaution during the current Covid-19 outbreak, Chester Cathedral (including the Cathedral Falconry Centre) is temporarily closed, except for prayer, reflection and meditation. Spend the day with us

The site entrance fee allows you to explore the centre and the nature gardens, visit the birds of prey and reptiles and watch our daily outdoor flying displays.  You can even leave the centre, explore Chester and return for more fun all in the same day!

Adults – £6.

Children – £4.50

Family of 4 (two adults and two children)  £18.

Family of 5 (two adults and three children) £22.

Annual Pass

Adult: £30.    |    Children: £25.    |    Family £95.



How to find us:

The entrance to the centre is adjacent to the Roman Wall, off Abbey street.

On foot
Via various routes: from Northgate Street, through Abbey Square and onto Abbey street or from the city walls adjacent to the cathedral.

By bus
All buses to Chester, including the ‘Park and Ride’ services, stop within five minutes of the Chester Cathedral estate and Falconry Centre.

By train
The centre is only a 15 minute walk from Chester Railway station

The nearest car parking can be found at Delamere Street and Market Car Park.

Disabled parking is available on St Werburgh Street and in the Kale Yard car park on Frodsham Street.
