Did you know?

  • Bishop Mark was confirmed as Bishop of Chester on Wednesday 15 July at a Chester Diocesan virtual service organised by Bishop Keith and the Bishop’s Staff Meeting.  Recorded music was offered by Chester Cathedral for the service.  The Bishop hopes to move into his house in October


  • There is a Family service called ‘Bubbling Together’ on 19 July 11.30am – 12 Noon for cathedral families who will sit together as families in their bubbles to worship together.  We are looking forward to this exciting new service to mark the end of the year and to look forward
  • Visitors and staff are enjoying listening to the organ music at evening prayer and during the day
  • The Food Bank is starting up again. The collection point is located inside the West Door. They need tinned meat, UHT milk, fruit juice and tinned potatoes.  The need post Covid-19 for our local community is considerable. Please do include some of the items on your shopping list and bring them into the Cathedral
  • READ MARK is on the 10th  session.  If you want to hear any of the sessions please go to the YouTube link which is on the Cathedral website
  • The Education Officer has sent prayer activities for all the children who would have attended the Leaver’s Service. There are 1,000!
  • The Leadership Team is considering how communication may be improved internally and externally. If you wish to contribute to the feedback please contact me by email here
  • There is a small group of  those who are members of families from both the Anglican and Catholic church who meet to share what they have in common.  If you are interested in joining the meeting please contact me by email here


  • I attended a six week Diocesan course in the USA (virtually) on Trauma, Resilience and Healing in Times of a Pandemic.  I also contributed to a Diocesan webinar with colleagues
  • All clergy continue to attend the many installations of incumbents around the diocese (currently they are all virtual)

Wider Church

  • The Lambeth Conference has been postponed until 2022 by the Archbishop of Canterbury
  • The Solomon Islands have not suffered from Covid-19. Thanks be to God
