Director of Music
Philip Rushforth was appointed Director of Music in 2007 and is responsible for the Cathedral Choir as well as the music of the cathedral alongside the Canon Precentor. Philip organises the famous weekly organ recital series and performs a number of recitals during the course of the year.
Andrew Wyatt is Assistant Organist. In this role, he accompanies services, such as Choral Evensong, with the organ, and conducts the Cathedral Choir and Nave Choir. Andrew also assists with the training of the choristers in preparation for services, CD recordings, and tours.
Rachel accompanies and conducts both the Cathedral Choir and the Cathedral Nave Choir at services and concerts, and trains the probationer choristers. She is also a busy recitalist, performing across the UK, Canada, the USA and Germany. She was Organ Scholar at St Paul’s Cathedral in London from 2014-2016 and before that, at Truro Cathedral. Originally from Canada, Rachel studied at the University of Toronto, where she studied with John Tuttle. Rachel currently studies with Henry Fairs at the Birmingham Conservatoire.
