Transforming Lives Together

Transforming Lives Together in partnership with Chester Cathedral

Transforming Lives Together (TLT) work to stimulate and support church social action, encouraging church engagement with people living in their local communities.

We respond to the ever-increasing issues of poverty, inequality, social isolation, and loneliness in and around the Diocese of Chester. We work with churches of different denominations as well as the voluntary and statutory sectors. People of all faiths and none are welcome to take part in and benefit from the work of our churches.

TLT has developed two initiatives that respond to food poverty, social isolation, and loneliness.

Filling the Gap
A network of churches delivering food and activities during the school holidays aimed specifically at families in receipt of free school meals but open to anyone. There are twenty Filling the Gap churches at present.

Places of Welcome
Churches, libraries, and community centres which provide a weekly welcome to people from all backgrounds and ages to come together in a safe place to meet, have refreshments, and make friends. There are currently thirty-five Places of Welcome across the Diocese, including Chester Cathedral.

It costs £6,000 a day to care for our historic building and to maintain our worship and music tradition. We rely on the kindness and generosity of people like you to power our work.
