The Companions of St Anselm - Chester Cathedral

The Companions of St Anselm

Become a 'Companion' and play a vital role in the growth and vitality of Chester Cathedral.

The Companions of St Anselm seeks to preserve the fabric of Chester Cathedral and is named in honour of St Anselm, a Benedictine Monk who, alongside the Earl of Chester, Hugh Lupus, helped establish a new monastery which was later to become Chester Cathedral.

The Companions of St Anselm are Chester Cathedral’s patron group for those wanting to contribute to Chester Cathedral in a significant, regular way. By donating a minimum of £20 per month by standing order you can join the ‘Companions’ and be part of an enterprising community who contribute meaningfully to the life and development Chester Cathedral. Your donation will be transformational for our cathedral and enable us to continue our Christian heritage and maintain our beautiful building.

As a Companion of St Anselm, you will receive

  • A twice-yearly Companions newsletter
  • An invitation to our annual St Anselm’s Day (on or around 21 April) Choral Evensong and reception
  • VIP receptions throughout the year
  • Unique opportunities to engage with the work funded by you, our Companion
