Service
Morning Prayer
Join us at Chester Cathedral for worship, whether or not you are a regular worshipper here or in another church, or whether you have a strong faith or no faith at all.
Orders of service for the Sunday morning Eucharist or other special services are available to download from the Cathedral website or are available on screens.
From the earliest days of the Church, Christians have gathered at regular hours during each day and night to respond to God’s word with praise on behalf of all creation and with intercession for the salvation of the world. By the fourth century, if not earlier, the most significant times in the day for this were morning and evening. and they have remained so ever since. Many of our services here at the Cathedral build on the same pattern of worship as our Benedictine predecessors of St Werburgh’s Abbey.
These services have changing elements to pick up the seasons of the liturgical year, but the core continues to be the Liturgy of the Word interwoven with canticles to supply the response of praise, followed by intercessory prayer.
