Sunday morning worship groups for children and young people
Sunday School at Chester Cathedral provides a space for children and young people (and their guardians) to take part in age-appropriate activities as part of the Cathedral’s 10.30am Sunday Eucharist.
Age groups
3-7 year olds
In the education room
8yrs and above
In the Cloister room
Both groups have a pattern of taking the Gospel Reading for the day to read the story and take part in activities to help understand the reading.
At special times of the year Sunday school will have one off sessions such as Christmas and Easter.
All Sunday school leaders are volunteers who have enhanced DBS certificates and have undergone all relevant safeguarding training, and any training required to be a volunteer at Chester Cathedral.
Those wishing to take part should meet at the front of the nave for the start of the service. Three rows of seats are reserved for Sunday school at the front on the North Side of the Nave.

Other activities
Children are not always comfortable to go out to Sunday School when they are visitors and we like all children to feel welcome.
Play space during service
A play space is available in the Children’s Chapel for all services.
When Sunday school is taking place there is also a play space in the Education room.
Activity tables
During all age services and most school holidays there are activity tables for accompanied younger children in the North Nave Aisle.
Special services
During special services such as Baptism Services or Ordination Services there are available activity packs for children to use during the service and take away with them afterwards. These are aimed at children 3-5 years and 4-11 years and relate to the particular service.
