These two, one-off poetry-writing workshops are linked to the Peace Doves art installation in Chester Cathedral from 17 May to 1 June, when thousands of paper doves will be suspended in the South Transept.

Peace Doves is a participative art-work, with local community members invited to write messages and reflections on the doves. Amongst events accompanying the installation will be a poetry evening on 20th May, where we are pleased to welcome nationally renowned poet Imtiaz Dharkar as our guest reader.

In this workshop we will look at the poetry of peace in its various aspects, to stimulate our own writing. We will also explore some of Imtiaz Dharkar’s poems.

Every participant will be invited to add their own words to a Peace Dove. There will also be the opportunity for some poems to be read as part of the poetry evening on 20 May. A workshop ticket includes free entry to this evening.

The workshops will take place in the Exhibition Library, between 10am - 12pm. Please note, no food or drink may be consumed in this location, with the exception of water.
