January is over and we are excited for everything happening this month at Chester Cathedral.

Most notably, Luxmuralis returns to Chester Cathedral with a new show for Chester, Poppy Fields. Opening on Tuesday 18 February for five nights, Poppy Fields will fill you with awe and wonder as you make your way around the Cathedral. It will be a poignant and moving sound and light show that will take you on an immersive journey through fine art, sound and light installations transforming the Cathedral spaces creating a walking curated experience. Poppy Fields will utilise a brand-new route around the Cathedral, with a reduced number of people entering per session via the south west porch. The 2025 show incorporates a collection of fine art projection artworks that reflect on the end of World War Two, but more importantly look at the hopes and wishes for peace in our world and the future. Don’t miss your chance to experience Poppy Fields for yourself, book tickets here

Ibiza Proms will be in the Cathedral Friday 14 and Saturday 15 February with a 40 piece orchestra taking you on a musical journey to the White Isle. This is a standing event for 18 and overs. Tickets are still available for Friday here however Saturday is sold out.

Interested in learning more about the stained glass in the Cathedral? Come along for the Stained Glass Tour Monday 24 February at 2pm. Not sure about the difference between stained from plain glass? No problem! This tour is suitable for absolute beginners and enthusiasts alike. Chester Cathedral has an impressive collection of internationally significant stained glass, ranging from medieval fragments to the 21st century ‘Creation Window’. On this engaging tour you will learn about the makers, designers, and restorers of these magnificent works of art and hear some of the fascinating stories connected to them. Book tickets here.

Sing the night away at the ultimate throwback concert, 80’s Anthems by Candlelight, on Thursday 27 February. They will be serving up the biggest and best rock anthems, power ballads and pop classics from the decade with an incredible cast of world-class singers and epic live band. Tickets available here.

Calling all Whitney Houston fans…Whitney Houston by Candlelight will be at the Cathedral Friday 28 February at 7.30pm. Featuring one of the UK’s leading Whitney Houston Tribute acts and her spectacular live band. Get your tickets here.

And of course, we have our weekly organ recitals every Thursday at 1.10pm. this is a great opportunity to hear the Grand Organ in action! February’s organ recital programme can be found here
