Dean Tim and wife Jen (also Cathedral Education Officer) are away from the Cathedral for three weeks in the Solomon Isles, preaching, teaching, working with the diocese and meeting the locals. Here's todays update.

Wednesday 12 June

Jen and I followed different programmes today...

Tim:
I spent the most of the day with the Cathedral Chapter, which meets only once a year. It was chaired by Archbishop Leonard, the Dean is Vice-Chair. They eat well, breakfast, mid-morning tea, and lunch with six different meat courses. There is a lesson there for Chester's Chapter, I think. The meeting was conducted in Pidgin, which I could follow just about. Fortunately the papers were in English. The issues were exactly the same as our Chapter has: land boundary disputes, building projects, financial accounts and budgeting, etc. Oh, and the mission of Christ's church too. I felt very at home amongst friends.

Jen:

I visited St Nicholas College in Honiara. It is an all age school from pre-school to year 12. It is a very popular school with parents, so much so that some classes have 90 children. The Secondary School were all doing exams so we didn't disturb them but Pre-School and Primary were really happy to receive visitors.
