During current government restrictions, we have decided to open Chester Cathedral on Sundays only – for worship, and private prayer or reflection thereafter. Whilst churches are allowed to open for worship and prayer, we feel this measure protects both the spirit of the current lockdown, and our financial insecurity. A number of services will continue to take place, and will be streamed online through our official YouTube channel here.
Chester Cathedral is committed to keeping its heart and soul as a vibrant community of worship, an ancient abbey, an archaeological treasure, a cultural hub, a centre of musical excellence and a unique blend of medieval and modern history. At this difficult time the community that lives here will continue with our daily prayer holding the City of Chester and wider Country before God.
